(19 Sep 2015) Stephen O’Brien, UN Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator, visited Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan on Saturday, where he said that record amounts of funding are stuggling to keep pace with increasing volumes of refugees.
The manager of the camp, Hovig Etyemezian, said the main topic amongst residents there "besides electricity, is Europe", with many hoping to follow in the footsteps of hundreds of thousands of refugees who have travelled to the continent.
After visiting the camp, O'Brien held a meeting with UN officials and Jordanian government representatives.
