We begin in Russia where President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, promised free grain to six African nations.
The promise was made on the first day of a two-day Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg.
Putin said that Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, the Central African Republic, and Eritrea will each receive 25 to 50 thousand metric tonnes of grain, at no cost.
The offer follows the collapse of the Black Sea deal which allowed Ukraine to export grain worldwide and helped reduce soaring food prices.
Russia refused to renew the deal claiming that western sanctions were limiting the sale of its agricultural products abroad.
Russia's promise has been criticized by the United Nations which described it as a “handful of donations to some countries."
The UN also said it won't have the same impact as the previous grain deal.
