Located just north of downtown, Old Town offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern amenities. The area is home to a variety of boutique shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues, including the famous Second City comedy club, which has launched the careers of numerous comedians. Old Town's rich history is evident in its well-preserved buildings and notable landmarks, such as St. Michael's Church, which was built in 1852 and is one of the few buildings to have survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and the Old Town Triangle Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Old Town is easily accessible by public transportation, with several CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) bus routes and the Brown Line 'L' train serving the neighborhood.
