The American disco group Village People is best known today for the Y.M.C.A. song. Back in the 70s and 80s, the band was famous for great songs that often featured suggestive lyrics and flashy costumes. While Village People created some great songs over the years, such as Macho Man and Go West, the band's most famous track remains Y.M.C.A., the song that became an anthem and was recently added to the U.S.'s National Recording Registry. The Y.M.C.A. song shot to fame around the U.S. and Europe, and it is one of the few dozen singles to have ever sold more than 10 million copies.
