Vahan Grigoryan was born in 1967 in the city of Gyumri, Armenia, into a family of artists. From an early age, he showed an interest in music. He attended a music school, studying the viola, and then went on to a music college. In his youth, he began composing and participating in national competitions, where he was recognized as a winner. After graduating from the composition and viola classes, he was admitted to the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. He then worked as a viola player in the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra and as a singer in the Yerevan State Chamber Choir. During those years, he engaged in a great deal of concert activity. He is the composer of four symphonies, a concerto for string orchestra titled Neoclassical Outlines, a rhapsody for viola and piano, a vocal series titled Homelanders with lyrics by Kuchak, and other miniature pieces. He also composed the music for the film Death Hopes. In 2016, He moved to the United States, where he continues to compose. He is also embarking on a literary career in poetry.
