Eskom says the Sheriff of the Court has successfully attached the four bank accounts of Emfuleni Municipality in Gauteng, so that the power utility can recover the R8 billion it is owed.
Eskom says in a statement that Emfuleni is no longer a beneficiary of the debt relief programme due to multiple breaches.
The power utility says collecting debt is a key focus.
It says the debt owed by Emfuleni is 10% of the total debt owed to it by municipalities in the country.
