Cardinal Pell was in "very good form" just days before his unexpected passing on January 10, EWTN News Vatican correspondent Colm Flynn says.

"The day before I flew to the United States, the last person I met and interviewed was Cardinal George Pell," Mr Flynn told Sky News Australia.

"I mentioned it to the TV crew as we left ... that Cardinal Pell was vibrant, he was in great humour."
