CJI, NV Ramana has called for the inclusion of more women in the judiciary. Speaking at a virtual event to celebrate the International Day of women judges, CJI pointed out that the govt is sitting on the appointment of 20 women as HC judges. Women constitute only about 30% of the lower judiciary, justice Ramana pointed out. CJI said, “In high courts, women judges constitute 11.5%. Here in the Supreme Court, we currently have 4 women justices out of the sitting 33." He has called for more women representation and proposed reservations for women in law.
