I believe in prayer. I have seen so many miraculous answers to prayer that you can't tell me God does not answer prayer. I would love to tell you all of the stories. Because I know that some have a temptation to give up and they say I'm trying to pray but where are you God.
There is a reason that Jesus said keep praying and don't lose heart and that's because he knew that the temptation would be there in those times when our faith was tested. I believe sometimes God does test our faith and make us wait because he wants to see if we really believe enough to persevere and keep praying and believing. I have had prayers answered years later and because I keep a prayer journal I was able to go back and know that God came through.
Also The Bible gives many reasons why our prayers may not be answered. The Bible says that our prayers may not be answered if there is sin in our lives, if we are not treating our wife with love and honor, if we have doubts and do not believe, if we quit praying too soon. Have you ever read in the book of Daniel where the angel finally came and told Daniel that he had try to get there sooner and that he left on his way the minute Daniel started praying but that the devil tried to block him and so it took 21 days. It's a spiritual battle waging behind the scenes my friends and you must persevere in prayer.
Sometimes we simply do not continue persevering in importunate prayer. Jesus said the widow got what she wanted from the judge because she would not leave him alone and he was telling us that we must continue pounding on the doors of heaven until God responds. There's something about that type of determination and persistence that pleases God. Can you imagine if Daniel would've stop praying on the 19th day or the 20th day? the angel may not have ever shown up.
But know that there are some circumstances that cannot be changed without continued prayer and fasting. Jesus said this was true.
Don't lose heart. Seek God with all your heart and if there is sin in you life you need to repent.
