A brief little walk around the Rocky Mountain town of Ouray. We actually spent about six hours here, watching the world and the people in it go by. We stopped at Artisan Bakery for a morning treat and an iced coffee, where I had a very nice conversation with a lovely lady named Christine who worked there. She had a great story of how she actually came to be a resident of the town after leaving upstate New York and traveling in a borrowed Airstream. They were staying at the local Flying J RV park and happened to be visiting with her brother’s former soccer coach who owned the distillery in town. He mentioned they needed a math teacher at school, and she’s been here ever since. Funny what travel can do.
I had some great little conversations with folks that day, as we walked the town with Sadie and I popped in and out of various stores. I don’t usually buy too much, but it’s fun to talk to people, and most are willing to share their local’s perspective on what to do and where to go. This is a beautiful mountain town, surrounded by gorgeous peaks on all sides, and has so much to offer in the way of outdoor activities. We were only in town for a day, so we did not do all the famous stuff that you will see on much bigger channels than mine. I’m just here to document a day wandering around and looking at the town itself. The architecture, once again, is just incredible.
I wish I could write more, but this ol’ lunch lady is pooped and I gotta get up before the birdies, sooooo I hope you like the stroll. And yes, that fried chicken was delicious. Next time we’ll be doing a back country drive— one of those local recommendations I mentioned that came in quite handy for an out of the way adventure. Enjoy Ouray, and I’ll catch ya next time!♥️
