The lovely small town of Donato Guerra is about a 45 minute drive from centro (downtown) Valle de Bravo. It's an easy trip with or without a car since the colectivos go regularly. We loved the photo ops with the big Jesus statue, the iconic letters, and the butterfly skirt plus the always present gazebo in the town square. Weekends are the best time to go since the market is open for street food and shopping and don't forget the waterfall! The waterfall, Cascada La Asuncion is located on private property and can be found on Google Maps. The property owners graciously open their home for visitors to enjoy the space on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-5pm. It is a hike down but so worth the visit with the gorgeous sound of the water and the ample wildlife. They do have a small tienda (store) for snacks and drinks, even a beer if you'd like. The waterfall is a 20-25 minute walk from town or there are taxis you can grab in town. Most taxis are happy to give you their WhatsApp for a return ride.
