Cillíní, also known as 'children's burial grounds', are unofficial burial grounds that are found all over Ireland. Unbaptised babies and young children were buried in them, as were some suicides, strangers whose religion was unknown, convicts, and they were also used by the general population during times of distress, for example the Great Famine of the 1840s.
This short film tells the shocking story of one such cillín in West Cork which was visited by a 'Cork Examiner' newspaper reporter in 1848.
