Alex Lyon plays You Are My Sunshine as part of our Concerteenies for Babies project 2024-25. This American folk song is an expression of devotion and gratitude towards a loved
one. While it is heartwarming, it is also a plea for loved ones to stay close. Smile while you sing - it makes your eyes bright and your voice sound beautiful! Calmly draw circles with your finger on your baby’s palm, or rub circles on your baby’s back or tummy in time with the music. Imagine the sunshine bringing you warmth, energy and happiness!
Concerteenies for Babies is a live music project in partnership with Sheffield City Council’s Family Hubs between March 2024 - March 2025. Our live music events are led by Polly Ives, Sarah Carroll and a team of professional musicians.
This playlist and accompanying resource pack aims to give you lots of songs and activities to try with your baby. Each video introduces a musician and a song with suggestions for ways to explore the music more e.g. tapping along, singing, rocking your baby to sleep. You can also search for each musician to enjoy more of their diverse musical styles at home.
Resource pack written by Sarah Carroll, Olivia Beaumont, Scarlett Hoole, Queenie Flinders and Polly Ives.
