Another papal basilica in Rome is Santa Maria Maggiore, which is also a must-see. A place that is full of treasures and that holds many mysteries and secrets. At one time, immediately after his death, the great sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini was buried with his family without any honors and monuments, and even in Soviet films there were sometimes songs and poems dedicated to the basilica. Perhaps the most famous of them is the one performed by Alexander Mikhailov from the movie "The Enchanted Wanderer". It is especially worth visiting the basilica and the square next to it on New Year's Eve, as there is also a very beautiful Christmas tree there.
