STORYLINE
Thousands of people demonstrated across the West Bank in solidarity with the people of Gaza on Friday, calling for Palestinian unity and accusing Arab leaders of silence over Israel's offensive.
Protesters marched with Palestinian flags, burnt Israeli ones, and chanted slogans in Qalandiya, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Nablus, and Qalqiliya.
In Qalandiya and Qalqiliya Israeli soldiers tried to disperse the protesters, who were hurling rocks at them, by firing tear gas.
On a Qalandiya street Palestinian youths were defiantly running through the tear gas, one picking up a shell from the street and throwing it in the same direction where it came from.
Protesters also set debris on fire on the road and lined up several garbage containers.
No injuries were reported, although one man was carried away by other protesters in Qalqiliya.
The extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.
The protests came as Israel continued its seven-day offensive against Gaza's Hamas rulers.
More than 400 Gazans have been killed and some 1,700 have been wounded in the Israeli campaign, Gaza health officials said.
Hamas has said around half of the dead were members of its security forces and the UN has said more than 60 were civilians, 34 of them children.
Israel launched its aerial campaign on Saturday, saying it wanted to halt weeks of intensifying Palestinian rocket fire from Gaza.
