This makes it the first mass-produced vehicle in China with SBW, a system that decouples the steering wheel from the wheels, enabling advanced autonomous driving and innovative cockpit designs.

Nio unveiled the ET9 during its Nio Day 2023 event on December 23. Pre-orders are priced at $109,920, with deliveries expected in the first quarter of 2025. The ET9 incorporates cutting-edge technologies, including the SBW system, which Nio developed after years of significant research and development investment.

Nio will also help establish a national standard for SBW technology as the only automaker with a production-ready model featuring this system. This approval follows a strategic partnership Nio signed with Germany's ZF Group in 2022 to collaborate on SBW advancements.
