The Quantum Metal Ekspedisi Perpaduan Watikah Kemerdekaan 66 London - Kuala Lumpur 2023 (QMEPWK66) is now bound for its 10th destination.
The convoy of six Malaysians riding their high-powered motorcycles are headed for Stara Zagora, Bulgaria after departing Bucharest, Romania.
They were flagged off by Malaysian Embassy in Romania charge d' affaires Lim Hooi Sin in front of the mission office in Bucharest at 9.30am today.
Yesterday, they were treated with Malaysia's comfort food - chicken rice - for lunch as well as ‘nasi goreng’ and ‘kuih burger Malaysia’ for breakfast.
Lim said she was proud of the spirit displayed by expedition members and hoped their mission would end successfully when the convoy arrives in Putrajaya on August 31, in time for the 66th Independence Day celebration.
The expedition was to commemorate the historic journey of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj who brought the Malayan Declaration of Independence from London to Kuala Lumpur in 1957.
Meanwhile, expedition head Arep Kulal said he and other riders had, during a meeting with embassy officers, gained invaluable and useful information that can be shared with other Malaysian travelers.
The expedition, which started on June 20, began from London and will travel through 16 countries, including France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Hungary within 66 days covering over 22,000km.
