Approximately 70% of our implant cases involve single implant placement.
Accurate placement, respecting both prosthetic and surgical principles is very important in order to set up proper foundation for avoiding intra-operative or future complications.
Although I am very experienced surgeon with over 10k implant placements I always re-evaluate my cases critically and came to realise that more often than I thought I would misplace the implant when using free hand protocols. Nothing more frustrating than a misplaced integrated implant...but WHY??? How did this happen??
Well...
Because of the optical angle...based on implant side my eyes were fooling me...and funny enough always with the same pattern...
Thus, I came to realise and accept that a surgical guide is needed for every case in order to deliver ideal implant placement predictably.
However, I did not want to spend my working time and increase my treatment cost by outsourcing to labs for single implant cases. Thus I started looking for available universal/ re-usable surgical guide systems in the market. All of them follow surgical principles..but this is not good enough..I needed a guide that will fulfil both surgical and prosthetic requirements...
This is how our journey started and with my partner George Papadopoulos, CDT we developed the Cervico Guide.
