STORYLINE:
Egypt's first parliamentary elections since President Hosni Mubarak was replaced by a military council are slated to begin on Monday.
Just two days ahead of the ballot, Egyptian security forces clashed with protesters camped outside the Cabinet building on Saturday, leaving one man dead.
The violence occurred as a wave of protests against military rule was given extra impetus by the Egyptian military's decision on Friday to appoint as Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri, who served under Mubarak.
Some have been engaged in awareness campaigns or are fielding candidates.
