This is how we maintain our Raspberry patch from growing out of control and falling over late in the season. Every spring you will have to prune out the dead canes that produced fruit the prior season. The live canes that grew the prior season will produce fruit this season. They are the canes that you will have to organize on the trellis to produce an organized row of fruiting berries. Start by cutting out the dead wood. Then bunch your canes together in 4 to 6 bunches. Tie the tips together and then bend them over to form and arch and tie to the top or mid wire on your trellis for desired plant height. The plants with them fan out new growth and you will have great berry production later in the summer. It also looks better with the plants arched rather than bending over to the ground under the weight of the berries at the top of the plants. Try it out and let me know how it goes.
