I had a request to image Comet C/2023 P1 (Nishimura)- Discovered near earth on Aug 11 by a Japanese Photographer taking images of the night sky (probably looking at the Constellation Gemini). When processing the images he accidentally discovered a previously unknown comet and reported it to the MPC.

This is a short video showing the process of finding and imaging the comet. Once the orbit was measured I reported the update to the Minor Planet Center.
