Hadith on surah Al Masad 111
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ascended mount Al-Safa one day and he called out, “O people! Come at once!” The Quraysh gathered before him, and the Prophet said, “Verily, I have been sent to warn you of a severe punishment before you. If I told you an enemy was preparing to attack you this morning or evening, would you believe me?” Abu Lahab said, “Is it for this you have called us? May you perish!” Then, Allah revealed the verse, “Perish the hand of Abu Lahab!” (111:1)
