Tracking shot from car driving toward Orgosolo, it pulls up in front of a large house. View from window of house as car drives up. CU. Car flashing past camera. MS. The car stops and an Incom reporter steps out to try to talk to village people. A crowd of village men walk away as he approaches them. MS. The reporter approaches two women and they shun him. MS. & CU. The men drinking in the village pub, good close up shots of men drinking. MS. In the hills, the Incom reporter's car pulls up in front of two roughly made crosses on the spot where two English consorts were shot. CU. The cross. MS. & CU. Reporter interviewing shepherd - natural sound, Italian. He says that the village people did not think that the Sardinian bandits have killed the two Englishmen, he suggests suicides. Various shots of the shepherd showing the reporter the country around. MCU. Holy cross silhouetted against a darkening sky. Various shots of the reporter visiting the little graveyard of Orgosolo and looks at the writing on the head stones. MS. & CU. In the little church, women wearing black gowns and head scarves, they crying over dead body of a man killed in blood revenge. MS. Reporter's car pulls up by field of sheep. Various shots of the sheep, one has a young lamb laying by its side. Various shots of the shepherd being interviewed - natural sound, Italian. He says that the people have no choice now but to live in the hills, that how dangerous is around these parts. CU. The town doctor says what he thinks about the murders, etc. Various shots of several shepherds sitting around fire in dimly lit room, talking. Various shots of the reporter moving through shrubs to find bandit camp. He finds the most famous Sardinian bandit Guiseppe Mascau in the hills. During an interview, the bandit says he is absconding for three years to protect his family and he also says he is completely innocent of the recent murders. MS. Guiseppe Mascau grabs his rifle and makes off into the hills. Various shots of the family of Guiseppe Mascau in their home. They sit around table and study and write about the unfortunate events happening in Orgosolo. CU. The pages of writing, women writing.
