Britons stranded overseas face a scramble to book new flights today as the disruption from Monday’s air traffic control failure continues.

Passengers abandoned in airport departure lounges last night have complained at being unable to find help on the ground, facing closed call centres and airline apps that keep crashing.

There were chaotic scenes at airports across European holiday hotspots last night as carriers made sweeping cancellations in an attempt to patch together their schedules, which were left in tatters by the five-hour outage.
