Welcome back to The Green Yard and to one of my favorite trees, our Jackfruit tree. This tropical tree has been through three winters and is currently in it's third growing season. It has almost tripled in size since it's first planting and is thriving in the Tropical Food Forest part of The Green Yard. Jackfruit trees are similar to our Mango trees in the amount of Phoenix sun and cold they can handle. As they mature they like to grow into our full sun and they do require cold protection until they are more mature. They also like to have a slightly acidic soil so they do require agricultural sulfur and a heavy layer of mulch to thrive. Jackfruit trees are thought to be originally from India and have been cultivated in most of the tropical regions of the world. I can't wait to someday harvest some beautiful, giant Jackfruits from my tree. Until then, if you want to see more great Phoenix plant content, please make sure to like and subscribe.
