The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg opened in 1975 with a collection of locomotives and cars that had been originally displayed for the 1939 World's Fair as a historical exhibit. Since then, the museum has grown to include additional locomotives such as the PRR 1223 which was used in the movie Hello Dolly!, and Olomana which was owned by legendary Disney animator Ward Kimball. Walt Disney himself occasionally operated the Olomana on Kimball's Grizzly Flats Railroad.
The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is a Smithsonian affiliate museum, and it makes a perfect side trip for those visiting Hershey Park.
If you have enough time, make sure you visit the Strasburg Railroad just across the street. The Strasburg Railroad is the oldest continuously operating railroad in the western hemisphere. It offers excursion trains which are pulled by steam locomotives.
