Dr. Stephen LeBlanc talks on the metabolic challenges faced by transition cows, the role of feed intake and practical steps that can be taken to improve transition management. Specifically, Stephen highlights recent research on hypocalcaemia, ketosis, immune function, and reproductive tract health and what can be done practically to prevent and manage these problems. Stephen is a qualified vet and an associate professor at University of Guelph in Canada. Stephen's research focuses on metabolic predictors of disease in peripartum dairy cows and the prevention and treatment of uterine disease in cows post-calving.
