The island's Mediterranean beauty is simply breathtaking, with its stunning beaches, rugged mountains, and charming villages. Over 300 days of sunshine each year make it perfect for enjoying outdoor activities like hiking, sailing, cycling, and golfing. The rich culture and history here, along with a slower pace of life and strong community values, contribute to a high quality of life that's hard to beat.
However, there are challenges to living in this paradise. During peak tourist seasons, the island can become incredibly crowded, making beaches busy and causing traffic. Prices for housing and other essentials can be quite high, especially in popular areas like Palma. While many locals speak English, I've found that language barriers still exist, particularly in less touristy parts of the island. Additionally, some businesses close or reduce their hours outside the peak season, which can be inconvenient.
Environmental concerns also weigh on me, as the high volume of tourists puts a strain on natural resources, leading to issues like pollution and beach erosion. Despite these challenges, the combination of Mallorca's natural beauty, cultural richness, and overall quality of life makes it a wonderful place to live.
much love
Gora
