The purpose of interactive writing is working on spelling practices, phonics, phonemic awareness, and writing conventions by "interactively" composing the piece together while sharing the pen. These kinder students knew the structures and routines from the very start of the school year and were able to use white boards successfully.
It takes roughly 8-10 minutes out of your day and using the word study data from the class, I was able to strategically choose which students to call on based on their Words Their Way assessment and Dibels assessment.
