This is pretty much as close as you can get a car to the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve around 70 miles north of the Arctic Circle. That's how late August (2016) looks like in Brooks Range best time to visit in Alaska: temperatures are still pleasant enough, bugs and flies are gone and daylight is still pretty long also the fall colors are breathtaking!!
