India, which overtook the UK to become the world’s fifth-largest economy, is poised to become the third-largest global economy in the next decade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also laid out an ambitious vision to make India a developed country by 2047, when India celebrates 100 years as a sovereign, democratic republic.
At ET India Rising, powered by Visa, NITI Aayog CEO Parameswaran Iyer sketches the roadmap to Amrit Kaal, or India@100, outlining the action agenda for fuelling India’s growth story and catapulting it into a developed nation by 2047.
Iyer was speaking to Miloni Bhatt, Editor - Digital Broadcast, economictimes.com at ET India Rising, a multimedia interview series where some of India’s most influential decisionmakers and leaders share their outlook and insights on the challenges, opportunities, and trends that will define India’s rise as a global economic powerhouse, backed by three key economic pillars: financial services, MSMEs, and infrastructure and manufacturing.
Watch Iyer also discuss the expected impact of the Union Budget 2023 and how its holistic emphasis on key growth areas such as infrastructure, technology, sustainability, technology, and entrepreneurship underscores the priorities for achieving India’s vision of becoming a developed nation over the next 25 years.
