Disheartened is how the local Māori on the Kapiti Coast are left feeling after the Environmental Protection Agency gave the go ahead for the proposed expressway impacting on wāhi tapu. The Takamore Trust and Te Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai have been fighting road issues for almost 50 years and while the latest proposal is an improvement on previous suggested routes, many sacred sites will still be affected including burial grounds.
