Anyone who visits Istanbul must eat balık ekmek (fish sandwich; balık=fish, ekmek=bread). Eminönü fish sandwich boats are famous throughout Turkey. In history, fish sandwiches are sold by fisherman boats at the same spot, mostly returning from fishing. This chaos both on sea and land, was disciplined by the city's government a few years ago and now there are only 3 large boats licensed to continue this tradition.
