Three National awardees received their medals from President Christine Kangaloo on Tuesday.
The awardees were unable to attend the National Awards Ceremony which was held on September 24th for the Republic Day holiday.
The three were formally inducted into the Distinguished Society of Trinidad and Tobago.
Receiving the highest award of T&T, the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, was former Attorney General and former President of the Law Association, Sydney Russell Martineau SC, for his contribution to law.
In keeping with the President's invitation to students of Form 6 from around the country to participate in the National Awards Ceremony, Head Boy of St. Francis Boys College of Belmont, Jonathan Dixon, was tasked with reading the biographies of the awardees at the brief ceremony.
"He is a long standing Director of the Pointe-a-Pierre Wildfowl Trust and has been a member of the Queens Park Cricket Club for many years. In 2023, he was honoured by the Law Association for his 50 years as a member of the bar."
For his work in the Business sector, Nazir Khan received the Chaconia Medal Silver.
"Mr. Khan’s leadership extended beyond his professional roles serving on various Boards including the Water and Sewerage Authority as Chairman, and as a Founding Director of the Environmental Management Authority of Trinidad and Tobago."
For her work in the Public Service, former Chief Personnel Officer Stephanie Lewis received the Public Service Medal of Merit Gold.
"During her career, she acquired wide knowledge in the area of Human Resource management and in particular Human Resource relations and Public Service pension benefits. This allowed her to provide invaluable input and technical advice for the successful implementation of significant initiatives."
Twenty National Awards were presented for the year 2024.
