Nothing in the NHL is a sure thing. The league is too good and too competitive. There are plenty of veteran teams with superstars and young teams that are surging forward to compete, so it is impossible to guarantee anything. That is the beauty of the league. That is what keeps the fans coming back. The NHL playoffs are so thrilling every year because you never know if the favored top seed is going to dominate or be thrown out in the first four games.
In a league of uncertainty and competition, though, the Red Wings are certainly a strong choice for the 2013-2014 Stanley Cup Champions. They are building an even stronger team than they had last year, which was not a bad showing in its own right. They have knowledgeable, hungry vets and young kids with a lot of speed and raw talent. Best of all, you know they are going to make the Stanley Cup playoffs, and, from there, anything can happen.
