Jonathan Zeitlin (Political Science) addresses how innovative forms of transnational governance can enhance environmental sustainability and democracy. He presents the results of research on the FLEGT agreement, an EU initiative to combat illegal logging around the world. Illegal logging is a major source of forest degradation, which contributes to global climate change, deprives governments of vital tax revenues, and threatens the livelihoods of local communities.
