Çatalhöyük is a Neolithic settlement located near the town of Çumra in Konya province, Turkey, dating back to around 7000 BCE. This ancient city consists of two mounds: the East Mound and the West Mound. The East Mound was inhabited during the Neolithic period, while the West Mound was occupied during the Chalcolithic period.

Çatalhöyük is considered one of the oldest and largest Neolithic settlements in the world. This settlement, home to approximately 8,000 people, hosted one of the first communities engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. Excavations at Çatalhöyük have revealed colorful frescoes, figurines, and various everyday items found on the interior walls of houses, shedding light on the art and cultural understanding of that era.

This settlement was discovered by James Mellaart in 1958, and the first excavations were conducted between 1961 and 1963. Çatalhöyük was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2012. This ancient city is of great importance not only for its archaeological value but also as a significant cultural heritage that illuminates the early periods of human history .
