Link to all practice parts for Byrd's "Ave Maria"
Soprano Choir Part Practice: "Ave Maria" by William Byrd (1540-- 1623), is from his 1605 "Gradualia" publication which includes the 'Advent Votive Mass'. The five-voice motet "Ave Maria", is the centerpiece of the Advent Votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin. It is used as the Offertory from Pentecost to Christmas, and for the Annunciation. The Alleluia verse is used during Advent and for the Annunciation
Ave Maria, gratia plena,
Dominus tecum;
benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui.
Alleluia.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
Alleluia.
