Algeria sentenced journalist Ali Djamel Toubal to two years in prison for social media posts in a single-day trial on June 17, escalating their recent assault on press freedom. Since March, Algeria's crackdown has led to at least two other journalists being imprisoned and several new sites being blocked from access in the country.
