Tylae in her TEDx Doncaster Talk shares the idea that Traditional Youth Services in the United Kingdom are and informal education is much more than just buildings, social hubs and places for young people to develop their basic social skills.
Just scratching the surface, these spaces offer opportunities for those pressured by inequality, safe spaces for Gay, Trans and Black young people, detached work to help young people on the streets, a place to celebrate and learn more about ones self, culture and identity.
Tylae is a living breathing example that Youth work, works, however after significant budget cuts Tylae presents how our sector needs to recover, and move forward, after over 10 years of ‘big society, NCS and Neo-liberalist mindsets taking over the agenda to support service for young people.
Tylae focuses on how to support, protect and raise the voices of young people and challenge the current landscape that is being exploited at the hands of the so-called big society organisations and the National Citizen Service.

I was let down by my personal experience with education and children's mental health services growing up but found my own identity through youth work.
I was given the space and opportunity to explore myself and my culture. Youth work made me who I am today, a Youth Work and Community Development graduate from the University of Derby, currently furthering his studies in a Master of Arts in Education: Leadership and Management course.
