STORYLINE :
The Mothers of Plaza de Mayo held their last annual march on Thursday, as a show of allegiance to Latin America's wave of left-leaning leaders.
Countries like Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina itself have left-wing leaders.
Hundreds of people gathered in Buenos Aires, where musicians, non-profit organisations and the famous Mothers mourned those killed during the dictatorship.
Honouring the missing, the Mothers formed a pyramid of photos around the plaza's central monument.
According to one mother, Eve de Bonafini, "the enemy is no longer in the government's house."
The mothers believe the government of President Nestor Kirchner has been supportive of the movement and of the wave of changes happening throughout the region.
The Plaza de Mayo Mothers movement began in 1981 as a way of demanding knowledge about the disappearances of their children during the country's 1976-83 military dictatorship.
But the mothers said, they are not "quitting" yet.
Mother Carmela Prizzi de Lago said, "we are not quitting after these 24 hours. We will continue coming here every Thursday."
Thursday's ceremony marked the 1500th march since the movement began.
