Ettore Beghi, MD, IRCCS - Institute Mario Negri, Milan, Italy, discusses how surgery is not the answer for epilepsy patients who have not responded to two anti-epileptic drugs. There is epidemiological and clinical evidence that changing the treatment schedule can be effective after two failed treatments. Epileptic patients who receive surgery only have a 50% chance of complete remission. Therefore, surgery should be the absolute last option. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
