Securing our Jeanneau Merry Fisher NC 1095 for a Hurricane. Idalia will be crossing the Florida from West to East. There is little to do but secure the boat, add fenders and hope the storm surge does not lift us off the dock pylons.
To prepare the Sweetest Thing, we disconnect power and water from the stanchion. We do not want power surges and waves can damage the stanchion, hose or power cable.
We move the boat back several feet so wave action will keep the anchor clear of the dock.
We add a spring line on the Port Side forward to a dock cleat and we add fenders to the Port side.
We double up the starboard bow line and add spring lines fore and aft along the starboard side. And, add another fender.
We lower the antenna.
We lower our engine slightly to keep the prop clear of a stern line from the port to the dock.
The west wind puts the most stress on the stern lines.
