What bird is this that sounds like R2D2? They are found in large fields where they nest on the ground in the grasses. Females, young birds, and males in winter plumage are yellowy-brown with light and dark brown patterning on the back to blend in with the grasses. Grassland birds have declined as NH fields have grown back into forests. You can help these birds by delaying mowing the fields so they have time to finish nesting.
