Used on its own, a Tarp is a great choice as a sleeping shelter for minimalist backpackers who are not too concerned with bugs. At the same time, a Tarp offers a comfortable group gathering space out of the rain or as shelter from the sun, or it can serve as a kitchen away from your campsite, something especially important for greater safety in bear country. Our Mesh Inner Tents are an excellent option for use in dry, warm conditions. On their own, they provide not only maximum airiness and protection from flying and crawling insects, but 360-degree views, as well. When used in combination with a Tarp, a Mesh Inner Tent retains all of its venting and viewing advantages, while the Tarp provides protection from rain or shade from the sun. Every Mesh Inner Tent can also be used with its corresponding model’s outer tent. While this does increase the tent’s ventilation Mesh Inner Tents weigh about the same as the corresponding model’s standard inner tent.

While weighing only a bit more than the Mesh Ridge, our Mesh Box 10 offers more space and comfort for 2, and its tall sitting height and vertical walls provide plenty of usable space, even for group use.
