This video outlines Plato's argument that the aim of love is immortality. In his work, The Symposium, a bunch of people get together at a party and give speeches regarding what love is. I focus in on the speeches of Agathon and Socrates as they specifically work together in explaining what the aim of love is.
My hope of this video is to provide a critical thinking exercise where you critique Plato's argument. Critical thinking is an important tool not only in the world of philosophy but in the world in general. I employ a chart outlining Plato's argument from start to finish to help make the critical examination a little bit easier, but I also did not include my own critique as I think that might hinder the effectiveness.
