This beautiful Victorian scrapbook is truly an object of beauty. It is currently (as of Dec 27, 2020) up for bid on our ebay page, but we hope you enjoy looking at it, even if you don't plan on bidding.
Victorian scrapbooking became a wide-spread hobby after the mid-19th century industrial revolution made full color printing something that could be mass produced and affordable to most. Local businesses would place beautiful trade cards out and allow customers to take them for free. It was great advertisement for them and their products, and they knew full well that most folks would not throw them out! What a treat it must've been to have these cheery little works of art readily available to glue into their cherished scrapbooks during a time when photographs were black and white. What a wonderful hobby for the whole family to enjoy. This book is particularly nicely done, as someone had a good "eye" for organizing them in a very pleasing way. This book features some outstanding ephemera and you will some lithography, chromolithography, die cuts, trade cards and steel engravings. xo
