“I had feelings: passive as I lived, little as I spoke, cold as I looked, when I thought of past days, I could feel. About the present, it was better to be stoical; about the future – such a future as mine – to be dead. And in catalepsy and a dead trance, I studiously held the quick of my nature.”
- Lucy Snowe, Villette
Villette took me a while to read! Although Charlotte Brontë’s writing is beautiful, she tend to add things that aren’t alway necessary to the story (again, still beautiful though). Therefore, I often found myself taking breaks from the book.
At times, Villette was very somber, so I think this playlist matches all the gloomy feelings Villette evoked!
With all that being said, I hope you enjoy the light rain and calming music.
