We chose a different kind of life when we chose to live in a van. We might be houseless, but we aren’t homeless.
You know the feeling when you move into a new place & it takes a few weeks or months or even years for it to truly feel like your home? Your sanctuary? You know, when you are hesitant to paint or to use a nail to hang a picture or put up a Christmas tree because you’re not sure how permanent your new place is? But then, out of no where, you feel completely safe & sound. You are settled & you can’t imagine living anywhere else...
Moving into a van definitely didn’t feel like moving into a safe, tranquil home at first. It took time & a LOT of adjusting. It took accepting that life on wheels is significantly harder & more complicated than a stationary life. But that’s okay with me. Nothing worth having comes easy.
I had no idea that decorating our van for Christmas would be that “AHA” moment for me. I honestly didn’t even know I was missing out on that moment until it happened. It all came together & it just hit me. Putting our tiny tree up & hanging our stockings & lights finally made it feel lasting - like a real home.
This is just the beginning of our crazy adventure & I can’t wait for more Merry little Christmas’s to come. ❤️
