Come along for the ride of a day in the life of Makana and Alika—two rescued Laysan albatrosses—and their number one fan Nikki, our resident bird nerd and awesome aviculturist!
As two of the only members of their species in any zoo or aquarium, Makana and Alika are ambassadors for animals living in the vast open ocean of the North-East Pacific.
Albatrosses are heavily impacted by plastic pollution mixed in with their food. Every time you skip a piece of single-use plastic—a straw, plastic bag or coffee cup lid—you're making a difference for her wild cousins. Thanks for your help wherever you've been able to cut out plastics!
